Tire Replacement Cost Calculator
Build a rough replacement budget before you get to the shop. Prices vary by brand, casing program, region, and service provider — this estimate is a starting point for conversation, not a final invoice. The calculator runs in your browser and does not send your numbers anywhere.
When to Use This Tool
Use this when building a rough tire budget for a single vehicle or a small fleet replacement cycle. It is most useful when you have a written quote in hand and want to verify the math, add up multiple positions, or estimate the total before calling a shop. It is not a substitute for a written quote from your tire supplier.
How to Use
- Enter the current quoted price per tire for each position type — steer, drive, and trailer. Use a written quote from your supplier rather than a recalled price.
- Enter the quantity needed in each position. A standard tractor-trailer combination has two steer tires, eight drive tires (on a tandem-axle tractor), and eight trailer tires (on a tandem-axle trailer).
- Enter an optional installation or disposal fee if your shop charges one flat rate that applies to the whole job.
- Click Estimate. The result shows an estimated total and the number of tires included in the estimate.
Reading the Result
The estimate does not include taxes, emergency service premiums, or price changes between a verbal quote and final invoice. A written quote is more reliable than this estimate for budget approval.
If your shop substitutes a tire line because a size is out of stock, the price can change from the estimate. Always confirm the specific tire being installed before approving the job.
Use the total as a rough planning figure and as a check on whether the shop's invoice matches the scope of work quoted. Position quantity is easy to mis-count — verify the actual tire count on the vehicle before authorizing the job.
Example Scenario
Two steer tires, eight drive tires, and eight trailer tires priced from a local shop quote, with one shop labor fee added once for the whole job. The calculator produces a rough total that the fleet manager uses to request budget approval before authorizing the work.
Formula and Limits
(steer cost × steer qty) + (drive cost × drive qty) + (trailer cost × trailer qty) + optional fees
- Does not include taxes, state disposal fees, emergency service charges, or downtime cost.
- Quoted prices can change due to tire availability, brand substitution, and regional supply changes.
- Do not use a budget estimate to approve the installation of a mismatched or undersized tire because it matches a budgeted price.
