Load and inflation table

Last reviewed: 2026-05-20

A tire manufacturer's published chart showing the load capacity for a specific tire size and model at different cold inflation pressures. It is the working reference for matching pressure to actual axle load. The table also separates single and dual service, because the same tire carries a different rated load depending on how it is mounted.

A load and inflation table is specific to the tire model, size, and service position. Values from one brand, one tread line, or one size do not automatically apply to another. Use a recent loaded axle weight and confirm whether the tire is in single or dual service before choosing the pressure.

Real-World Use

A maintenance technician setting pressure on newly installed drive tires pulls the manufacturer's current load and inflation table for that exact tire model. The loaded tandem axle weight is divided only as a starting screen, then the dual-service column is used before the final pressure target is written on the work order.
